How to Reduce Stretch Film Cost per Pallet

1. Use powered pre-stretch (the big one)

Pre-stretch is film elongated by the machine's geared rollers before it contacts the load. At 250% pre-stretch, one foot of film becomes about 3.5 feet on the pallet, so you cover the same load with a fraction of the material. Hand-wrapping and brake-only machines capture little of this, which is why powered pre-stretch is the single highest-return change you can make. 2. Right-gauge your film

Thickness (gauge) is not the same as strength. High-performance thin-gauge films are engineered to hold as well as, or better than, thicker conventional film using less material. Dropping to the correct high-performance gauge for your loads lowers the pounds of plastic per pallet without sacrificing containment. Measure by holding force on the load, not the gauge number.

3. Apply only the wraps you need

Every extra revolution is film you paid for. Dial in the right number of base, top, and spiral wraps for each load type, enough to contain safely, no more.
